Production

Join award-winning director Jo Southwell and director of photography, Mary Farbrother as they discuss the production of the film, First Day: On Set. This event will focus on a production day on set, the role of the director and DOP and how to balance the creative aspirations against the practicalities of a shoot.

ScreenSkills, First Day: On Set is an immersive film which invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the buzz of working on a film or TV set in a 360-degree experience.

During the experience, the audience, guided by the third assistant director (3rd AD), can visit a working sound stage, the sound, camera and lighting, art, costume, make-up and hair departments and the video village.

The film was an incredibly ambitious project, bringing together traditional filming and new and emerging technologies.

This event is preceded by First Day On Set: pre-production on Tuesday 15th February and followed by First Day In Post post-production on Thursday 17th February. Attendees are welcome to attend every event should they wish to
