Pre-production

Join Academy & Bafta award-winning producer Gareth Ellis Unwin and award-winning director, Jo Southwell, as they discuss the pre-production of the ScreenSkills film, First Day: On Set. The event looks at the role of the director and line producer in the pre-production planning phase of production, how to balance the creative aspirations against the practicalities of a shoot.

ScreenSkills, First Day: On Set allows the viewer to immerse themselves in the buzz of working on a film or TV set in a 360-degree experience.

During the experience, the audience, guided by the third assistant director (3rd AD), can visit a working sound stage, the sound, camera and lighting, art, costume, make-up and hair departments and the video village.

It was an incredibly ambitious project, bringing together traditional filming and new and emerging technologies.

This event is followed by First Day On Set: Production on Wednesday 16th February and First Day In Post post-production on Thursday 17th February. Attendees are welcome to attend every event should they wish to
