About
a media artist living and working in London since 1994. His practice encompasses photography, moving image and installation, and he has produced an extensive body of work that explores themes of trauma, landscape, disability, migration and gender.
He graduated in Contemporary Media at the University of Westminster in 2001 with a distinction for his final project, the photographic series The Wounded Image (1997-2003) shortlisted by the John Kobal Photographic Awards. He progressed to a Masters in Media Arts with his first two-channel installation Don’t Look Under the Bed that was also screened as single channel at the 16th London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, Philadelphia International Lesbian & Gay Festival 2001; it was broadcast in the series V ee-TV, Channel 4 in 2001 and won an award at Queer ID Idaho, 2007.
His works have been exhibited in group exhibitions and film programmes in the UK and abroad. Recent projects include: The Ringing Forest, shortlisted by the Forestry Commission and exhibited at the Jerwood Space in 2014; The Flickering Darkness (Revisited) commissioned by Unlimited Awards in 2014, and exhibited at Southbank Centre, London, The Gallery at Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle, Adelaide Film Festival, Fundacion Laxeiro, Spain, and
LCB Depot, Leicester; It Must be This Time, ...Somewhere Else, produced during a residency at the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, Qatar in February 2015. He has also recently participated in the Mardin Biennial, Turkey and the End of the World Bienal, Argentina in May 2015.
His multiscreen installation Sailing Out of Grain will be exhibited at the Turner
Contemporary, Margate in the group exhibition Risk in October 2015.
