Simone Smith is a Writer/Director. She's interested in making bold films that explore themes of vulnerability, loss and transformation. She won a BAFTA New Talent Award for her short film RED - praised as "Very original" by Stanley Kubrick's producer, Jan Harlen. Her short film SLAP was BAFTA nominated for Best Short Film in 2018, and in 2019 won Jury Special Mention at Glasgow Short Film Festival. SLAP was also hailed by BFI Sight and Sound. Her work has screened across television and BAFTA/Oscar qualifying festivals including Aesthetica, Underwire, LSFF, Cork, Cinequest, MTV, NME and Channel 4. She has 7 years experience working for BBC as a Researcher/Director, and her first feature film UNTIL SHE BLEEDS is in-development with SFTN.
