About

Donna Taberer re-joined the BBC in September 2010 as Head of Public Service Partnerships and the Head of the College of Production in the BBC Academy. Her role is to work closely with training bodies and key partners to share world-renowned BBC training with the wider broadcasting industry as part of its public service remit.

She oversees a wide range of training such as storytelling, health and safety, digital, multi camera directing and editing which is on offer to the BBC’s 23,000 staff.

She launched and produced for the wider industry, the popular Fast Train events – the UK’s largest free training day for TV and Radio professionals. And she created the successful and award-winning Expert Women days to redress the imbalance of female contributors across the media. These have now been commissioned to find new talent in the BAME communities. She has devised and delivered several high profile diversity projects.

She has also been part of the team which designed and delivered high profile and high impact change programmes such as Respect at Work. 
 
Previously she had been a Commissioner in Entertainment at Sky 1 and Head of Entertainment and Features at Channel 5 working with Wayne Rooney, Robbie Williams, Emma Bunton, Noel Edmonds, Eddie Irvine and David Coulthard. She has worked with approximately 100 indies.
 
During a 16-year career at the BBC, where she joined as a researcher on That’s Life, she worked her way through the grades to Executive Producer on an eclectic range of programming including major live OBs, documentaries, Daytime, investigative and undercover, consumer, crime, leisure and entertainment. She held a number of senior managerial roles including Deputy Controller, BBC Factual and Learning – and was part of the management team heading up a £290m business with 2,000 staff across London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester and New York producing 1,350 hours of TV, 90 websites and 450 hours of radio.
 
Donna started her career in print journalism at 18 and followed the NCTJ – the journalist proficiency programme.
 
She is a member of the RTS Education Committee, has been on the steering committee of the Guardian Edinburgh International TV Festival for four years, is a member of the ScreenSkills TV Fund, has been a Governor of the NFTS and a member of the BAFTA Career Pathways Committee. She is a regular contributor to Broadcast magazine and a speaker at international festival and conferences.
