About
I'm a Birmingham born and based writer and filmmaker with a range of projects in development as a producer and director. I also write for both live action, animation and the theatre.
In 2015 I won the UK Parliamentary Film The House competition for Around Again - a war film made in 48 hours with 50 volunteer cast and crew. Budget £900.
In 2011 I was selected for the Regional Producer Mentoring Scheme run by Screen WM. I was mentored by Rachel Robey.
I participated in the 104 Films' Generator Trainee Producer scheme which involved attendance at Edinburgh Film Festival 2013 and the London Screenings 2014.
In 2010 my Stickleback Production’s team won the 2 Weeks 2 Make It music video competition.
My short Fled was shot in April '13. I crowdfunded, wrote, produced and directed - putting together an international cast and crew of 37. It won the Best Short Short award at the Sci-Cine Film festival 2016.
I was selected for a UK team pitching at Dragon Forum - a documentary strand of Krakow international Film Festival in May 2014. I pitched my WWII themed animated series idea Animal Operations Executive.
My most recent fiction short Launched was made for the Colchester Film Festival 60 hour film competition. The competition ran from Friday 2nd October at 8pm to Monday 5th October at 8am 2015. The main shoot was at the Mockingbird Theatre Bar in Birmingham, UK but I also had a second unit directed by my filmmaker friend Phil Harder in Minneapolis, USA. Budget £200. It starred Barkhad Abdirahman (Captain Philips), Sufia Manya and Raife Connolly Maddox.
My first short documentary "Gwen - The Story of a Wartime Nurse" is just starting the festival circuit. Its the story of 93 year old Mrs Gwen Mckendry who nursed sick children and servicemen during the war.
I recently graduated from the 2017-18 Filmonomics scheme run by Oscar winning producer Mia Bays on the back of conceiving and curating 6 of the Best Festival in January 2017 which featured 6 new films by British women.
I came 2nd out of 350 entries in the Daniel Alexander films Script 2 Screen competition in October 2018.
"Really appreciate you entering and the conversations some of the judges had around your script were amazing to hear. I think out of all of them, your story was the one that had everyone the most excited about and was a very, very close second."
I was a Stowe Story Labs fellowship Finalist in 2021.
I was a Top 3 Finalist in the Best Short Script category of the 2020 Lockdown Film Festival for my WW2 script The Little Winding Road which is based on a true story.
I was 1 of just 6 selected as In Competition for III Animafilm International Animation Festival 2020. There were 40 local entries plus other international ones.
