About
FUTURE
My main aim for the future is finding a job in the creative industries.
I am working in two main directions, hopefully they will join simultaneously. On one hand I would like to continue to study film and television in the university and on the other hand finding an entry-level job in a post-production house. I face the coming years with enthusiasm and hope as I will gain more skills that would allow me to break into the industry and get a long-time desired job place.
PRESENT
Since I first moved to the UK my main motivation has been to upgrade my audio-visual skills and learn more about the creative industries. I am currently studying a HND in TV at Edinburgh College and during this HND I have found that I am very interested in camera operation and cinematography, but even more I really enjoy editing and colour grading and I am looking forward to focussing on these two activities. Studying television and the moving image is a sort of natural progression of my past career and a preparation for the future as the market demands more multiskilled professional profiles. My aim is to be able to find a job in the creative industries. All my past experiences has been advantageous during the HND TV course that I am undertaking at the moment, as I have already been competent with most of the software programmes I am using. My experiences in filmmaking in this HND, playing different roles when doing assignments such as Director, Camera operator, Editor and Producer has provided me with a very valuable insight into the creative industries, and I feel even more ready to break into it.
Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 situation, I had to complete last term and the first semester of this course at home but since the beginning of lockdown I decided to try to make profit of the situation. I have undertaken online courses in Davinci Resolve and Avid Media Composer and also reinforced Premiere and After effects. I had to do both my Graded Units during the lockdown, but this has not been a problem since I have been able to fast learn quickly about remote collaborative working. I am a focused and methodical person who can face the future challenges with optimism and patience. I really enjoy learning and I love the process of finishing a successful product.
PAST
Back in 2001 I joined an analogue photography course in Mexico that gave me a solid base in film photography, both black and white and colour. Since I first studied photography all those years ago, I have learned multiple skills that have driven me in this direction. Later on, in 2005 I decided to formally undertake three years of degree level study to gain a private degree at CITM (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) in photography and digital creation. Unfortunately, I could not finish it as I was hit by the financial crisis and could not afford to pay for those studies anymore. However, during those years I gained a valuable knowledge in Photography, Design and visual communication, Artistic photography and Photojournalism just to mention some modules. What interested me the most was photojournalism, and I was able to join one of the local newspapers of my home city of Terrassa (Barcelona) to start a career in press photography. Also, when Google launched its project "Google Business photos" I was the first in my city to join them on shooting and selling 360 business virtual tours. I think it was too innovative for people to see the usefulness and the marketing was difficult, so I left, but it allowed me to gain knowledge in 360 photography. Life as a freelancer in Spain after the global economic crises was hard and in 2015, I decided to move to the UK to get a better life and with the clear goal of expanding my knowledge of audio-visual and the moving image which I believed, and still believe, offers better future options.
