I am an accomplished freelance Sound Recordist based in Hertford just to the north of London but able and willing to work almost anywhere in the world.

With 40 years’ experience in broadcasting, beginning at the BBC and over 30 years as a Location Sound Recordist, I am a highly qualified professionally trained crew member with a practical and pragmatic attitude to the challenges of delivering the best quality sound that your production requires, whilst still understanding the constraints of current broadcast budgets. I have extensive experience in Documentary and Factual programming, Science, History, Current Affairs, Arts, Entertainment, Children's and Corporate Film making.

My credentials as a fully trained BBC Sound Supervisor and Location Sound Recordist mean I can confidently operate in almost any environment. I'm relaxed, amiable and respectful amongst VIPs, celebrities, talent and members of the public, and interact with people courteously and calmly.

As a pro-active member of smaller crews, I am more than willing to assist cameramen or production staff and problem solve whenever necessary. I am able to light, grip or operate a second camera if the situation demands.

I own and operate a full range of up-to-date equipment and can quickly obtain any additional kit from industry recognised hire companies.

I have travelled extensively, visiting well over 70 countries from Afghanistan to Zambia, across six continents. A period of working within BBC News as a staff Sound Recordist means I have experienced numerous global trouble spots and volatile situations. I witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Lockerbie Disaster, and the massacre in Tiananmen Square.

I have a clean driving licence and two UK passports.
