In this session, we look at the role of assistant editor with Desiree Ivegbuna. It is part of our week-long focus on Inside the cutting room. From building the story, to adding music and sound effects, we reveal the inside scoop on the world of the edit and the jobs available in it.

So you want to be… is a new strand of online sessions which focuses on specific roles within TV, you will get the chance to go behind a job title and get the inside track, as told by the people who know these jobs inside out.

If you’ve ever wondered what a particular role actually involves and what it will take to get there as you look to progress in your career - or you are new to the industry and hoping to get some great insider tips to start your career - this could be the masterclass for you.

The speakers will take us through the highs and lows of a specific role, as well as provide top tips and advice about how to carry out the job successfully and how to get that particular role in the first place. This is followed by audience Q&A where you have the chance to ask the experts.

Speaker

Desiree Ivegbuna is a brilliant up-and-coming editor with over 8 years of experience in the television industry. Having started in the industry as a runner she has worked her way up to work on some of Britain's biggest series including Disney+ series The World According to Jeff Goldblum, Sky1's The Heist, Channel 4's The Island with Bear Grylls and Hunted. Des has a particular passion for comedy, observational documentaries and character driven stories that she can really get to the heart of.
