The Children’s TV Council is proud to be working with ScreenSkills to launch a mentoring scheme targeting those working behind the camera in the Children’s TV industry in the UK.   The programme will focus primarily on those involved in making live-action content but is also open to those working specifically in children’s animation.

The mentoring programme is a career and personal development opportunity for people with industry experience, therefore it is not open to those new to the industry.

The ScreenSkills Children’s TV mentoring programme actively encourages applications from a diverse range of mentors and mentees across a range of departments, geographical locations and groups currently under-represented in children’s tv.

In addition, we are particularly interested in hearing from the following as possible mentees:

  • Those who have been in the same role for at least 3 years
  • Those who have considered leaving TV in the last year
  • Those with experience in other genres, looking to specialise in Children’s TV production
  • Those looking to move to a different department or job role within Children’s TV
  • Those at producer level and above
  • Those pursuing a career in production management
  • Those under-represented in specific job role areas e.g. women in technical roles, men in wardrobe
  • Mentors and mentees will receive support, guidance and training from the ScreenSkills mentoring team throughout.

Mentor/mentee pairs are expected to meet for at least 12hrs over a 9-month period.

Applications close: 4 January 2021

Parties notified and matches confirmed – from w/c 2 Febuary 2021.

Please pay special attention to the criteria of this programme and only apply if it is a good fit for you.
