Giving feedback: production management focus

As part of our Step Up strand, we're offering training to help individuals coming back into the industry after a break, moving into a new role or responsibility level, or improving skills in unscripted TV. 

TV is a collaborative industry and being able to give and receive good creative feedback is a skill which is often overlooked. It can be all too easy to be defensive especially when you are under pressure to make schedules and budgets work. But at the heart of every creative process is feedback and in this workshop we will help you harness that muscle and learn how to exercise it. By using examples outside your normal day to day activities, we’ll show you a feedback model which actually works and give you the tools to take it back to your own working life.

Who it's for

This session is for all unscripted TV professionals working in production management who want to improve their feedback skills and learn how to harness creative feedback productively to enhance their careers and their management skills.

The majority of the USF online short course offering is for those at early career stage and above. As a result, we generally require applicants to have at least 3 credits (unless working in a traditionally uncredited role). If you strongly feel you would still benefit from the training, please email USF@screenskills.com so we can assess if an exception should be made.

Speaker 

Clare Zolkwer is a consultant with over 30 years of experience in the tv industry.  Working as a broadcaster, show creator and indie boss over the years has given her wide experience of creative feedback in all its different forms and she’ll share the benefit of that experience with you in this session.

Places on these free online courses are limited and applications are often highly competitive. To stand the best chance of securing a place, please be sure to consider the following:

• When asked to list your three most recent credits, please include the programme title and your job role.
• When asked what you hope to gain from the course, please be concise but ensure you cover the specific elements of the topic you would like to gain knowledge of and what gaps in your skillset you believe the course may address. A rewording of the course title or a general comment on career progression does not tell us much about how this course would benefit you.
