British designer and ScreenSkills patron Sandy Powell was awarded a BAFTA Fellowship at this year’s award ceremony. In doing so she became the first costume designer to receive the honour.

Over a career that has spanned four decades Powell has worked with some of the biggest names in film, designed works for filmmakers including Derek Jarman, Todd Haynes, Stephen Frears, Sally Potter and Martin Scorsese and has received three Academy Awards and BAFTAs.

At a ceremony held in London’s Royal Festival Hall, there were also wins for ScreenSkills Fund contributors Aftersun and The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse.

Aftersun, the acclaimed father-daughter drama, paid into the Film Skills Fund and saw writer-director Charlotte Wells receive the BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.

Animation Skills Fund contributor The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse was awarded the BAFTA in the British Short Animation category.

We congratulate the winning productions and thank them for their contributions to the Skills Funds.
