About
Paul is currently a mentee on the Directors UK Inspire 2022 programme as well the FLEX
programme with Screen Yorkshire. He’s a member of the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain, Directors UK, the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab (New York) and Equity.
In 2021 he was part of Set Access: A UK Film Talent Development Programme from Creative Access and Guy Ritchie. In 2020 he Paul was one of the Open Horizons #2 cohort with Northern Film + Media (supported by the Film and Television Charity) as well as being a participant on the Widening the Lens programme with Encounters Film Festival (supported by ScreenSkills).
He's worked in numerous capacities, but is principally a writer, director and producer. He has experience across film, TV, audio drama and theatre.
His short comedy script 'The Man at the Bottom of the Garden' made the final 50 of the BBC Writersroom InterConnected competition out of almost 7,000 submissions. He has since directed the short, which features features Denise Black, Paul Bradley and Clare Calbraith and was produced by Karen Newman of Hidden Door Productions

Paul has also worked as a runner, first and second AD, assistant producer and producer in short film, music video and audio drama.
After taking time out to care for two young children Paul is 'returning' to the industry and is actively seeking out entry-level opportunities in television and film.
FILM
His film work has screened at festivals in Austrailia, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Romania, Spain and the United States as well as at the Academy Award qualifying Tirana International Film Festival in Albania.
As a writer-director his short film pitch for ‘The End’ developed with film and television puppeteer Julie Frost was runner-up in The Pitch Film Competition in January 2019 and narrowly missed out on securing £30,000 short film funding and production support.
He has previously received support from the Film and Television Charity, the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Council.
AUDIO
As a director-producer he was recently selected as one of the finalists in Audible's Audio Drama Production Competion. Audio drama credits for BBC Audio Drama Award winning Wireless include: (as director and producer) the forthcoming four-part crime series ‘Omega’ by Elizabeth Parikh, (as director and assistant producer) ‘Night of the Orchid’ by Marty Ross, ‘I Heart Amy’ by Elizabeth Parikh, (as director) ‘The Mighty Carlins’ by Collin Doyle – featuring actor Shane Rimmer (selected to feature as part of the HEAR Now: The Audio Fiction and Arts Festival 2014 and the UK Radio Drama Festival 2015) and ‘Country Life’ by Peter Briffa.
As a writer-director his short audio monologue 'Feeding Time' premiered on BBC Radio Manchester in 2020.
THEATRE
Paul has staged worked which has been seen at venues including Oldham Coliseum, HOME, the Old Red Lion (London), Tristan Bates (London), Theatre 503 (London), Manchester Library Theatre, Contact Theatre (Manchester) and the New Diorama. He was also Trainee Associate Director at the New End Theatre, where he directed the UK premiere of 74 Georgia Avenue by Tony and Academy Award nominated writer Murray Schisgal.
