About
A hard-working, friendly, reliable Costume Graduate searching for a chance to work in High End TV.
I studied Costume Design and Making at Nottingham Trent University. The degree itself throughly developed my skills in costume construction and interpretation. It also taught me about the design side of the costume world and how the costume designs develop from the play/script. From the course I now have knowledge in both dress and costume history with a clear understanding of historial clothing, techniques and silhouettes. Having worked with materials that aren't necessarily fabric (for instance: Worbla and Plastazote) I have the potential to work in the props and the accessories side of costume as well as the costume making department. I also have a passion for breaking down costumes, dying and painting, which I plan on developing by doing a short course.
Since graduating university I worked as a Wardrobe Assistant on a show for The Musical Theatre Academy in London. This required me to work as a team to get all the Costumes made. I then worked as a Dresser during the run of the show. This was lots of fun and a learning curve as it was my first job out of university and taught me how to adapt to new situations and people. I then worked at Lapland UK which is a live immersive theatrical event. This was so exciting and meant I dabled in making costumes, dressing actors and doing the laundry. I have only briefly worked on one short film called RATTLE which made me a little bit more familiar with being on a set around sound and film equipment. I feel that my Theatre experience has given me transferable skills that I could use when working in TV.
I can work well in a team as well as independently. Always up for facing challenges, learning new skills and letting my knowledge grow. I love organising and making cups of teas. Moreover, I am not afraid to leave my comfort zone and am able to easily adapt to new environments. I have a full UK driving license and am flexible for relocating.
