Debbie is a freelance theatre director, working primarily in new writing/work. Her recent work as a director includes The Session (Soho Theatre); The Five Steps, Primetime, Who Cares, Spaghetti Ocean (Royal Court); Lot and His God, Notes from the Underground (Citizens Theatre); Recreation (Arcola); CauseWay; Woman of the Year (Oran Mor); liberty, equality, fraternity (Tron/Traverse); Sucker (Old Vic New Voices); PANORAMA, Roses Are Dead (Arches).
She finished as Trainee Director at the Royal Court earlier this year, where she assisted on productions including How to Hold Your Breath; The Internet is Serious Business; The Nether; Birdland and The Mistress Contract.
As associate, credits include Constellations (The Royal Court); Little on the Inside (Clean Break).
She has previously assisted at the National Theatre of Scotland, the Citizens Theatre and Scottish Opera, was a member of the Team Effort! collective, and is currently resident director at Etch theatre. She has recently directed two short dance films with choreographer Quang Kien Van.
