Omari 'Motion' Carter

Creative Director, Choreographer

  • Location: London
  • Career stage: Experienced

Omari ‘Motion’ Carter has been practicing the art of screendance with screendance production company, The Motion Dance Collective, of which he founded in 2011. His work revolves around combining hip-hop dance influences with contemporary choreographic processes to result in the purposeful orchestration of: the movement of the camera, the movement in front of the camera and the movement of the edit, bringing fresh new screendance work to fruition. A first class honours degree in BA Performing Arts led Omari to perform for 6 years in the West End and international touring productions of 'Stomp!'. Currently Omari is about to begin a Masters Degree in Screendance at London Contemporary Dance School alongside becoming a guest lecturer for the BA (Hons) Dance: Urban Practice Degree (University of East London) in their Rethinking Choreography: Bodies, sites and digital spaces module, in 2018/19.
