Alix Austin is an award-winning Filmmaker, focusing on female-led, diversity driven narrative films.

Initially training as an Actress at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD), she has directed and produced music videos and short films including Best Film winning #conniesflat and Raindance shortlisted Webseries Jess & Tess Solve Shit.

In 2016 she directed and produced True Value, which was funded by the Bruce Millar Award, starring Red Madrell (Kidulthood), touring festivals such Underwire, LIFF and BFI's Women of the World Festival.

She produced short horror 'RETCH', which screened at 30 festivals world wider, including LSFF, Brussels International Film Festival, winning Best Horror Short at Cinefantasy Festival in Brazil. It will be available to watch online via the popular Horror shorts website from March 4th, 2020.

Most recently she successfully pitched Docufiction short 'Portrait', winning a grant from Genera. The film stars Sorcha Groundsell (BBC3's Clique & Netflix's The Innocents) and will be entering the festival circuit in early 2020.

Alix is the founder of the 'MonologueMashup' Project, which is a rolling genderbending project, exploring famous monologues performed from a different perspective. Female actors perform roles originally performed by men and vice versa, while BAME performers have a free pass to explore whatever role they want to.
