Afia is a writer and director in Television drama, film and Theatre. An MA graduate of The London Film School,  Afia currently directs BBC Eastenders and writing commissioned full length play MOTHERS BURDEN for Trestle Arts Theatre and Pursued By A Bear Theatre Companies. Selected as 2nd Unit director on Jamestown series 2, Afia was mentored by Carnival Films in 2017.

Named Writer/Director to watch on the BBC New Talent Hotlist 2017, Afia is currently participating on the Screenskills HETV/NFTS Stepping Up Directors' programme and BFI Network X  Directors 2018.

Afia has written and directed several short films that have screened at film festivals in the UK and internationally, including her last award winning short film Shadow Man, supported by Film London. Passionate about stories with an African flavour, exploring the power of laughter, compassion and what it means to be human, Afia is developing several feature projects  for film and television. 

Afia is represented by Ikenna Obiekwe at Independent Talent.

This ScreenSkills member holds a Production Safety Passport.
