About
Intuitive, quick-thinking camera trainee. Get on well with people and work to the best of my ability.
Experience in cable bashing, Teradeks, video-village, camera assisting. Full, clean UK driving licence.
Highly driven, motivated with an ambition to become a DoP.
Fascinated by cinematography, particularly in the Nouvelle Vague, Cinema Novo, Italian Neorealist, and Czech New Wave era, where the relationship between light and composition allows filmmakers to subtly express exigent social and political issues. Drawn to the visual elements in storytelling.
I love to explore and work in remote places and am particularly interested in street photography and working with subjects to express unexpected elements of their characters. I set up a darkroom and began to develop my own 35m black and white prints and was greatly inspired by my time working in Brazil, which has strengthened my portfolio substantially, which has in turn had a huge impact on my interest in lighting and cinematography.
Having worked for a year in Rio as an assistant editor, I was inspired to work on my own project as a filmmaker - a short-film tackling the importance of self-respect and respect for women. An issue that is extremely important to me, and that I found needed to be approached, particularly in Brazil.
