I have worked for over 15 years in the film and television creative industries both as an educator/HE academic and producer/director with BDP Media producing education documentary films. As an independent producer/director clients include; DfES, UNICEF, East London Schools Consortium, Four Corners Film Workshop, Women's Library (LSE archive), Film and Video Workshop, Shape London, London Women’s Aid, London Arts Board, Camerawork.
Prior to this I have worked with Media for Development with LMU and prison education running a broadcast radio training programme (foundation degree equivalent) for inmates of Wandsworth prison. I have co-developed led a range of independent academic and community based participatory film/TV and photography productions and won successful funding bids (Arts Council/Council grants/other). I have also worked for Shape Arts on projects designed to provide increased access to the arts. Projects include; participatory art based projects for children, young people and vulnerable adults with autism, health and well-being contexts exploring creative expression through digital storytelling, journalism and TV, photography, painting, mural work, mixed media; movement and sound.
I originally trained in movement and dance at the Laban Trinity prior to which I had been working as a registered nurse key worker at City Roads a substance misuse residential project for clients coming in directly from the street who required support to prepare for rehabilitation programmes.
I am keen to hear about projects in the area of single camera, multicam studio production producing/directing working for example in unscripted TV, documentary and/or single camera drama production where my particular experience as a producer/director/teacher/trainer can contribute to developing a project.
I have many year’s experience teaching, training and facilitation in a range of contexts since 2005 in the higher education sector. I am intuitive and practice an experience as research to learning approach to learning and training. I facilitate groups and from diverse backgrounds and ages and enjoy the challenges of bespoking the design of creative projects and curriculum that engage participant trainee producers' team skills, creative, technical, operational and innovation agency and storytelling skills to produce industry entry level outputs. I enjoy collaboration; tackling complex logistics teaching/training delivery project planning; contributing to creative problem solving solutions in order to schedule complicated programmes for maximum participants and output; for example bootcamp production design, documentary from scratch, TV in a day, a day in the life, a 2 minute "tea-break" quizshow to keep the viewer "on channel".
I love meeting new people and learning/engaging in emerging ideas and developments in the Film and TV Industry. Ongoing continuing professional development is a priority and access to production training opportunities and projects to maintain and inform my current research, production and academic research theory/practice teaching work.
I have professional membership of Directors UK, WFTV and Professional Guild of Camera Professionals.
