Janet is the Founder of Mediathirsty and is experienced producing and directing short independent films as well as campaign, heritage and marketing films.
As Director and Co-Writer for KINDRED she presents a cross-section of the life of Esther, a woman who is not typically a central character.
She achieved strong natural performances from actors to create a character-driven short film that sensitively explores universal themes of kinship and belonging.
Inspired by the films of Asghar Farhadi, Mahamat-Saleh Haroun, Barry Jenkins and Destin Daniel Cretton; she delivers a drama that is empathetic and distinctly human.
Importantly KINDRED addresses the global difficulty experienced by ethnic minorities and mixed-race patients needing matching bone marrow donors.
The film will have its UK Premiere as part of the Official Selection of the 2019 Crystal Palace International Film Festival. KINDRED has won a REMI Award and will have its US Premiere as part of the Official Selection of the 52nd Annual WorldFest, Houston, Tx.
As a Producer for KINDRED she engaged leading cancer & leukaemia organisations, garnered support from Identity Agency Group and secured sponsorship from Arri, Procam TV, Land Rover, Syncbox & Molinare.
