About

Lucy Campbell is currently in advanced development with BFI for her feature PIG CHILD, a development of the short THE PIG CHILD (2014), now with playwright Dawn King screenwriting.

She is also commissioned to write and direct a feature horror for 21st Century Fox/Fox Digital/Hulu, after the success of her short LIPPY made for Fox Digital/Hulu.

Originally studying literature and creative writing, she subsequently trained as a medical doctor, alongside working as an artist and filmmaker, working as a GP in Central Manchester, as well as working with asylum seekers who have been tortured, preparing medical reports to support their asylum. She attended Manchester Metropolitan University as a mature student to study filmmaking, and won a Royal Television Society Best Fiction Award for her graduation film in 2011, and in the same year was a finalist in Virgin Media Shorts with The Friend Catcher.

Feature drama MONKEYBOY was shortlisted for the SUNDANCE WRITERS' LAB 2018. Developed on ADAPT TO FILM (Creative Skillset/Nottingham Broadway) with Anna Siefert Speck and Caroline Cooper Charles. In development with Delaval Film's Vision Award.

Lucy Campbell's award winning shorts (funded/supported by BFI/Film4/British Council/Film London/Creative England) have been programmed in multiple UK and international festivals,.

Short film: THE PIG CHILD (2014) - Winner Best Actress, Best Newcomer Cinematography,

Short film: MARINA & ADRIENNE (2016) - Winner best screenplay Shakespeare's Sister competition, and subsequently commissioned by Film London and British Council. Nominated for Best Director at London Short Film Festival, Winner Best Producer at Underwire). SLIDING (2017) - Underwire Festival (shortlisted, best production design)

Short horrror SQUEAL was commissioned by Film4 for their Halloween season 2016, broadcast on F4 Channel and can be watched on All4 website. Nominated for a Broadcast Digital Award 2017, Official Selection London Short Film Festival, Winner Best Director Women in Horror Film Festival.

Lucy Campbell is represented by Ikenna Obiekwe at Independent Talent.
