About
My name is Matthew Lee.
For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed illustrating stories, comic books and posters, using TV programmes (live action and animated) and films for inspiration. From first drawings, I began creating characters using plasticine and action figures, but also created brand new worlds in my comic book style drawings. The earliest memory I have of starting to create animation was from my college days - creating stop motion videos on YouTube. However, it was after I produced my first Stop Motion short film:Veggie Rush (Zoom Film Fest 2015 award winner), that I became interested in studying and working in Animation.
During the course, I have developed skills in 2D animation, storyboarding and generalising in mutliple roles in animation - collaborating with other students or clients in live events and productions. At the end of my course, I was given a Special Achievement award.
I am planning to work freelance in the film and animation industry and am looking for opportunities to further develop my skills in storytelling/storyboarding (animatics), character designs and draft animation. These aspects of pre-production are the ones I have most enjoyed during my BA course and are the areas that I am most suited for. I am looking forward to working with clients, seeking to fully research and further develop ideas put forward and thus provide an excellent service.
