Brett Chapman is an award winning filmmaker based in Sheffield in the UK. His film ‘The Residue of a Relationship’ is a multi-award winning short documentary exploring modern romance and relationships. The film has received awards and praise from the likes of Mark Kermode and Short of the Week.
Brett studied journalism at The University of Sheffield and after graduating began developing a unique style of filmmaking that meshes a tactile and handmade aesthetic with emotionally open storytelling. His use of obsolete and archaic technology in his films has been a staple of his work even as he moves towards working on more narrative fiction projects.
A huge amount of Brett’s work is lifted directly from his real life as he sets out to tell intimate and truthful stories in films and documentaries that can at times be intrusive but always fascinating.
His new film, Tiny Little Rocks, is a Richard Linklater inspired stroll through a city as two former lovers reconnect and share an evening of home truths and unspoken confessions.
