The Father and The Midnight Sky nominated for Academy Awards

Two productions that contributed to the Film Skills Fund are in the running for honours at the 93nd annual Academy Awards.

The Father received six nominations, including for best picture, best adapted screenplay and best production design. Its lead actor Sir Anthony Hopkins is also in the running for the best actor Oscar, while Olivia Colman is in contention for the best supporting actress award. The Midnight Sky is nominated in the best visual effects category. 

Gareth Ellis-Unwin, ScreenSkills Head of Film and Animation, said: “Congratulations to all Academy Award nominees and a big thanks to films that paid into the Film Skills Fund. Your contributions mean we can invest in building a skilled and inclusive workforce across the whole of the UK.”

Winners will be announced on 25 April in Los Angeles.
