The nominations for the 2024 British Animation Awards have been announced with 13 productions that contributed to the Animation Skills Fund among them. Between them, contributing productions received a total of 21 nominations across eight categories.

Kensuke’s Kingdom picked up four nominations including one in the best feature category. In the best use of sound category it will compete against two other contributors with The Smeds and the Smoos and The Sound Collector both receiving nods. The latter is one of five Skills Fund contributors to receive two nominations alongside ODO, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, Lloyd of the Flies and Tweedy & Fluff.

Already an Oscar and BAFTA winner, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse will go up against fellow Skills Fund contributors A Bear Named Wojtek and Peter and the Wolf for the Best Long Form Animation award.

A further four productions each saw nominations across the categories as The Very Small Creatures, Supertato, Beware of Trains and The Debutante were each recognized for their achievements.

In addition to contributing to the Skills Fund, six of the productions welcomed trainees from the Animation Trainee Finder programme onto set, working across a range of departments. The new entrant initiative offers paid production placements to those looking to start their screen careers in animation to help support the growth of the UK screen workforce.

We wish each production the best of luck for the night and thank them hugely for their contribution to the Animation Skills Fund.
