About

Having recently finished the art direction course with Terry Ackland Snow at FDI, I am now actively looking to take on a role as junior draughtsman in the Film and TV industry.

I have previous experience as a self employed 3D and 2D illustration and animation artist and graphic designer, with a long history in the advertising industry on high profile accounts, including: SAB Miller, Arthur Bells Distillers, Arthur Guinness, Austin Rover, BP fuels, BUPA, Carlsberg, Citroen, English Heritage, Heineken, Inchcape, Ladbrokes, Merloni Group, NGK, Pirelli, Rohan, Rolex, Royal Mail, Sony, Stella Artois, Swatch, Tesco, Unilever, United Distillers Group and William Hill.

My business provided clients with product design, packaging design, graphic design, POS display, explainer videos, broadcast quality animation, web design, corporate ID, brand design, brochures, artwork.

As well as the advertising industry, I’ve provided architectural visualisation services, exhibition design, product design and also worked in marine archaeology - constructing 3D environment and printed physical models from ocean floor photogrammetry data for the San Jose wreck in Colombia amongst others.

My suite of software and skills includes Vectorworks, Cinema4D R20 with Vray, Adobe After Effects CC, Adobe Illustrator CC , Adobe Indesign CC, Adobe Photoshop CC and Artec studio for 3D scanning.

Architecture:
I am passionate about about architecture, I have a deep and keen knowledge of period buildings, their construction methods and proportions(especially traditional oak framed buildings). I have managed 5 of my own building and renovation projects, I am a skilled carpenter and undertook all of the constructional carpentry work myself. I designed and cut the green oak frame structures on two of the houses. I have also designed and drawn up architects plans for my latest up coming and most ambitious project yet. Photos of these can be seen in my portfolio.

I have personally built and repaired structures such as staircases, roof structures (including tiling), complete suspended floors, foundations, plumbing, bathrooms, kitchens, interior and exterior decorative timberwork all to a very high standard.
I consider this hands on experience invaluable for a draughtsman.

Marine archaeology:
As mentioned above I have been involved in a number of marine archaeology projects. I worked extensively on the Alderney Elizabethan wreck with Mensun Bound - this was televised for BBC Timewatch. https://vimeo.com/307465070

I am also head of 3D for the San Jose recovery in Colombia, I have been responsible for creating a seafloor model of the wreck site and mapping all of the visible artefacts as well as putting together material which was presented to the Colombian government. I will ultimately manage a team of 30+ 3D professionals who will use Artec 3D scanners to record an estimated 100,000 recovered items. I will also be responsible for collating the photogrammetry scans of the wreck site to create an interactive layered 3D recreation of the wreck with artefacts in situ, for use, both in the museum in Cartagena and for academic study. Sadly this project is now on hold because of legal reasons.
I am also responsible for the wreck model of Shackleton's Endurance, but sadly this is also now on hold because our recent attempt was thwarted by multi-year ice endangering our ship.

I also have my own aviation archaeology project to recover a Supermarine Spitfire which is ongoing.

Cars:
I have also restored a number of vintage cars stripping them back to their shells and reassembling them with uprated and new parts, I handled all of the welding and mechanics myself (except the engine builds on two of them).

The reason I list these is to show my engineering and construction skills which I feel would be very applicable to a career in film production.

Martial Arts:
I hold a Sandan(3rd Dan) in Shindo Jinen-Ryu Karate-do. I head my own club in Bourne End teaching karate to children and adults. Being in the position to help people, especially young people to build confidence and character is especially important to me.
