About
Yah-wan McClelland-Scott is based in both the UK and Spain and works as a freelance edit producer, director, and self-shooter for broadcast TV. Furthermore, he has legal resident status in Spain and, with that, the freedom to roam the EU. Additionally, his intermediate-level Spanish has been a priceless asset in many productions. Throughout his career in the unscripted sector, Yah-wan has worked for the likes of Shine TV, TwoFour, Licklemor Productions, Pangaea TV, and Mind the Film, and has gathered a variety of editorial credits for broadcast TV shows and online content, including BBC 2's 'Rick Stein's Cornwall', Channel 5's 'Happy Campers', Sky Arts 'Unmuted', Wired's 'Obsessed Series, and Reebok's 'Human Lab Space'.
His experience also extends to self-shooting bespoke short documentaries and factual digital content that highlights cutting-edge innovation in art, music, and technology. In addition, his short film 'Watch with Mother', which explores the distorting effects of postpartum depression and complicated grief, was selected to screen at Sheffield Doc Fest, Encounters Film Festival, and the ICA gallery in 2019.
His industry career began in 2017 after being selected for the Screenskills Trainee Finder scheme. After completing his training and becoming an alumni, Yah-wan was fortunate enough to work as both a runner on a high-end BBC drama and as an assistant editor for the BAFTA-nominated feature film 'The Ghoul'. He then went on to work for Howard Overman's award-winning production company, Urban Myth Films, where, as an assistant to the executive producers, he learned the ins and outs of TV drama development, research, script editing, and creating pitch documents. His technical experience includes self-shooting with Canon, Sony, and Black Magic cinema cameras, as well as directing fixed-rig camera setups from a gallery. Yah-wan also possesses creative skills and experience in working with editing programs like AVID, Adobe Premier Pro, and FCPX.
