Start your career in high-end television in the South West
- Would you like to start a career in high-end television but are unsure how?
- Are you based in the South West?
- Are you aged 18 or over?
- Would you like the opportunity to apply for a 1-week paid placement on a local High end TV show?
If you answered yes to these questions, then this FREE industry insight session will lift the lid on what it’s like to work in High-end TV including:
- build awareness of the different departments, job roles, and career pathways
- provide insight into the freelance nature of High-end TV
- detail the opportunities available in High-end TV in your region
- explain what hirers look for on a CV
- explain how you can apply for a 1-week paid placement on a local High-end TV show in your region. (there are a total of 10 placements on offer/ 2-3 per region).
This training is supported by the ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund with contributions from UK high-end TV productions.
Who it's for
This programme is designed for new entrants from under represented groups and lower socio-economic backgrounds to help them take their first steps towards a career in high-end television in their local region.
No previous experience or education in Film/TV is required.
Please note: you are not eligible to attend any part of this programme if you are currently enrolled in school, college, university, or any other formal education programme.
Placement eligibility:
The placements on this programme are specifically designed to support young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds to access opportunities in the screen industries.
As part of the application process for the placement, you will be asked a short question about your background. The information you provide will be used solely to confirm eligibility for the placement and to help us monitor how effectively it reaches under-represented groups.

What it covers
This programme will be delivered in three parts, and you will be required to attend/complete each stage before moving on to the next stage.
- Part 1: Industry insights session – this session will be led by Alison Grade, CEO Mission Accomplished, and will cover the following topics:
- what is high-end TV?
- what is happening in this region?
- overview of the production process
- overview of different departments and job roles emphasising the wide range of
- opportunities for different interests and skills
- the freelance nature of HETV work
- writing a TV CV
- building experience and finding opportunities
The insights session will run twice – once in-person and once online

- Part 2: Mission Accomplished’s suite of e-learning - following the Industry insights session, you will be provided with access to Mission Accomplished's online freelancing in film and TV resources to help deepen your knowledge about how you get started which includes:

- links to key ScreenSkills resources including Job Profiles and Skills Checklists
- ScreenSkills e-learning modules:

- Albert Sustainable Production
- Part 3: 1-week paid placement on a local High-end TV show
- On completion of the e-learning you will be invited to apply for a one-week funded placement on a local high-end TV show. (2-3 placements on offer per region)
- The placements on this programme are specifically designed to support young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds to access opportunities in the screen industries.
- All applications will be reviewed and shortlisted applicants will be invited to an online interview.
- Prior to starting their placement, the successful applicants will be invited to attend a 2-day weekend residential workshop in Birmingham to further deepen their knowledge about starting a career in High-end TV and prepare them for their one-week placement. Travel and accommodation will be provided to enable participants to attend the 2-day residential.
Dates:
- Industry Insights session
- In person - 3 December 2025 from 18.00 to 21.00
- Online - 10 December 2025 from 18.30 to 2100
- Placement interviews – January 2026
- Residential – Friday 6th and Saturday 7th February 2026 (two full days)
- Placements – between late February and April 2026
