So you want to be…a sound recordist? With Pete Cowasji

In this session, we look at the role of sound recordist with Pete Cowasji. It is part of our week-long focus on camera and sound. So whether you're filming in the most extreme environments in the world or right on your own doorstep, we will explore the techniques and skills needed to capture picture and sound across a broad range of unscripted TV.   

So you want to be… is a new strand of online sessions which focuses on specific roles within TV. You will get the chance to go behind a job title and get the inside track, as told by the people who know these jobs inside out.

If you’ve ever wondered what a particular role actually involves and what it will take to get there as you look to progress in your career - or you are new to the industry and hoping to get some great insider tips to start your career - this could be the masterclass for you.

The speakers will take us through the highs and lows of a specific role, as well as provide top tips and advice about how to carry out the job successfully and how to get that particular role in the first place. This is followed by audience Q&A where you have the chance to ask the experts.

Having studied film and video at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design - specialising in sound - Pete Cowasji initially worked in music video production; before re-entering the world of sound, first for the facilities house Shift 4, before starting a freelance sound recording career working on a diverse set of shows including Dirty Sanchez, Top Gear, The South Bank Show and The Choir. More recently he’s moved into the roles of sound supervisor, planning and implementing sound of fixed rig and multi – camera shows, including Geordie Shore, Ex on the Beach and Hunted.
