This session will take you from blue sky brainstorm to top line and paragraph.

Having great ideas is the first hurdle but developing them and pushing them across the line takes time and teamwork. Something that COVID has impacted hugely as we are forced to work from home.

Your trainer Naomi Harvey will show you how to use a variety of online tools to keep your creative storytelling and development teams engaged, productive and enjoyable.

  • Blue sky brainstorming games using tools such as Thinglink to come up with a programme title
  • Using Mentimeter to facilitate online live word clouds and mind maps to flesh out the idea
  • How to use Jam board to build a story - to develop the narrative
  • Using breakout rooms effectively
  • Meeting spaces such as Veeoh which can be used for guest talks etc

This session is aimed specifically at those working in development roles in unscripted TV.

Speakers

Naomi Harvey is a producer with over 16 years experience working in TV broadcasting and also a psychotherapist and online trainer.

She has spent over a decade developing ideas as a producer and head of development from mega indies to small startups so she knows the challenges of having to come up with that one must-have idea that opens doors with commissioners.

Naomi uses digital training tools every day to deliver mental health courses to TV Production staff and has lots of hints and tips to liven up Zoom.

This event is supported by the ScreenSkills Television Skills Fund which invests in training for the freelance television workforce thanks to contributions from the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, and Channel 5.

It is part of a ScreenSkills programme to support freelancers to upskill and stay connected, helping keep the industry resilient in these difficult times.

This session will take place online via Zoom. Click ‘apply for ticket’ and follow the instructions to apply for your place: you must login or register before you are able to complete your application
