  • Part 2: Thurs 17 Feb 14:00 - 15:15

This session is part of the ‘Your Life at Work’ strand which offers training aimed at addressing workplace best practice as well as how to stay healthy, happy and productive at work.

This course is spread over two days, please only apply if you can attend both days.

Maya Angelou famously said: “I have written 11 books, but each time I think, ‘Uh oh, they’re going to find out now". In this workshop, Caroline gets under the skin of impostor syndrome. How do we reconcile the different versions of ourselves - what’s going on on the outside versus what’s happening on the inside? And crucially, how we can turn something that feels like a guilty secret into a hidden superpower. Themes include:

  • The truth about, and definition of, impostor syndrome
  • Celebration of flaws, fears and f-up’s
  • The power of vulnerability
  • Accepting and enhancing the different versions of self
  • Building evidence for the case again impostor syndrome
  • Befriending your inner critic
  • Managing your amygdala
  • Techniques for overcoming impostor syndrome

Who it's for

It has been estimated that nearly 70% of people will experience signs and symptoms of impostor syndrome at least once in their life; for many of us it is more of a daily occurrence. These sessions are recommended for anyone currently working in unscripted TV who would welcome an amnesty on pretending everything is alright all the time. Over the course of the two days, Caroline will help you understand impostor syndrome, looking at ways in which you can equip yourself to deal with it; harness it, even! Each session is interactive, with opportunities to ask questions and be part of discussions, ensuring you get the answers you need and strategies you can take forward yourself. A safe, confidential space is offered and this will be reiterated during the sessions. You will need a stable internet connection and we would encourage you to have your video on and be prepared to unmute yourselves in order to fully participate in the group.
