Our brand new programme offers you the chance to join the experts at Sky Studios across drama and comedy editorial and production departments, virtual production and music departments.
With an ambition to more than double our investment in original content by 2024, Sky Studios funds, develops, commissions, and produces original drama, comedy and documentary for Sky’s 24 million customers and beyond. You’ll probably know some of our shows such as the global smash hit Gangs of London to the critically acclaimed I Hate Suzie; from fan favourites like Brassic to one-off specials like Roald & Beatrix.
Learn how we create innovative and exciting content from script to screen to entertain our customers on Sky One, Sky X and Sky Atlantic. Working alongside our talented teams in production management, editorial, music and virtual production you will have an insight into how shows are developed, produced, delivered on time and budget and then distributed. What we’re looking for
Anyone aged 18 or above by September 2021, that is not currently studying at university or a graduate.
A quick learner and a team player with good communication skills
Self-motivated, pro-active and positive thinking
Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritise when asked to do different things by different people at the same time
Taking initiative - have a common sense, seeing what needs to be done in a situation, working sometimes without supervision and with attention to detail
Being curious - observing what’s happening and know when to ask about things you don’t understand.
What it covers
What you’ll be doing
During this 12 month programme you’ll experience four two-month rotations across Sky Studios before choosing one of these teams to join for your final four months. You’ll get the opportunity to see shows being produced from start to finish, working across multiple shows. This unique programme allows you to experience different departments to help you find out where your true talents lie.
You could join these teams as an:
Editorial Assistant
You’ll work closely with the Development and Editorial Teams in a dynamic environment. Learning how shows are submitted, developed and delivered to produce great results. Find out about the submissions and commissioning processes and understand the importance of the editorial brief and what makes a Sky show stand out from the rest.
Production Assistant
You’ll work closely with the development and production management teams in a fast-moving environment, you’llcontinue your learning of the processes and procedures and follow the shows’ journey through development to delivery. You will learn about the Sky steps to greenlight and understand all the phases of the production process from prep through to post.
Virtual Production Assistant
You’ll work closely with the virtual production team. Gaining insight and understanding of virtual production and how this new and innovate technology can benefit production. It’s a chance to learn more about the production pipeline and how new technology can make the impossible possible and save time and money for productions in the future.
Music Assistant
You’ll work closely with the music team, to gain insight and understanding of how important music is to intensify the emotional impact and mood of a show, promo or ad campaign. The music team work with internal and external music editors to negotiate deals and contracts for composers for bespoke commissioned music in our content as well as suggesting and negotiating rights and licences for commercial music tracks for our content. We also run our own huge library for internal and external clients.
