Are you interested in moving into the role of standby art director?

Set Etiquette will be delivering one-day masterclasses in Cardiff and London for crew who want to move into the role of standby art director. Presented by a production designer, director and director of photography, the masterclasses will be a live set complete with cameras to take you from the first day on the job through to working
on set.

This masterclass is fully funded by the ScreenSkills Film and High-end Television Skills Funds made up of contributions from high-end television productions and films made in the UK.

Who it's for

This masterclass will be open to anyonewith at least two HETV or film credits in the art department who is looking to move into the role of standby art director.

We always welcome applications from under-represented groups, including, but not limited to: those from minority ethnic backgrounds; people with a disability; people from the LGBTQ+ community and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

This is a nationwide programme so we welcome applications from across the UK.

What it covers

The masterclass will cover:

  • how to read and break down the script
  • what the designer, director and director of photography expect from you
  • what information you garner from the HODs
  • art department continuity - what it is and what to look for
  • planning and looking ahead - what are your responsibilities
  • working on set – to help give you confidence to step up as a standby art director
  • who are your immediate team – how does the team work
  • invaluable tips on how to be a great standby art director

This training session for high-end TV and film professionals based in United Kingdom, will be managed and delivered by Set Etiquette Ltd with trainers who are all working industry professionals.
