HETV Return to Work programme for craft and tech roles
Have you taken a career break and are now looking to get back into production? Do you need to refresh some skills, perhaps update your CV and portfolio? Build new networking contacts? Or simply benefit from some trusted support with the re-launch of your career?
Our new Return to Work programme with Talking Point is for craft and technical freelancers who are looking to get back onto drama productions following an extended break. This is a free, modular programme that will offer a range of workshops, guidance and support to ensure participants feel empowered, confident and ready to relaunch their careers on productions.
This programme is supported by the ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund with contributions from UK high-end TV productions
Who it's for
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- be a UK resident and have the right to work here
- have 3 credits in craft and technical roles on feature film and HETV drama productions
- have had a break of at least 6 months from the industry and actively looking to return
- be able to attend all the workshops and be ready to return to work from April 2022.

We particularly welcome applications from under-represented groups, including, but not limited to: those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds; people with a disability; people from the LGBTQ+ community; those from out-with London and South East and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
What it covers
The workshop programme will be delivered on Zoom, between March and May 2022 (dates to be confirmed*) and will include:
- mentoring (groups and one to one)
- refresher courses for technical skills
- advice on how to improve professional skills
- information on changes to current working practices
- CV's and Portfolios check
- guidance on maintaining well-being at work
- identifying key networking opportunities
- opportunities to identify any existing skills and knowledge gaps and information on how to fill them
On completion of the workshops, 6 participants will be awarded paid placements on HETV drama productions for up to 10 weeks.
The sessions will give a real boost to confidence and provide invaluable opportunities for networking and peer support. It is a gentle hand holding for successfully getting back to the workplace.
Talking Point will be working alongside established industry practitioners and organisations to deliver this programme. These include the GBCT, Filmbase, and Solas Mind
*we anticipate sessions will be on Tuesday mornings - this can be flexible and will be confirmed once we have shortlisted participants
