First Break presents The Lazarus Experience is a project that supports people at the start of, or thinking about, a behind-the-camera career in television drama.
ScreenSkills has partnered with Urban Myth Films and Gritty Talent for the new series of The Lazarus Project to introduce applicants to the world of TV drama.

This is the bootcamp stage of the First Break programme.

Who it's for
To be sure we reach a wide range of new talent, we strongly encourage applications from people who are:
- Aged over 18
- Not currently in full-time education
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Have little or no prior experience working in TV
We particularly welcome applications from people from Black, Asian or other Global Majority backgrounds.
What it covers
The bootcamp will include:
- Set essentials – what it’s like on a production
- Demystifying production – what the jargon means
- Departments - who does what
- Essential paperwork – what’s a call sheet and how to understand it
- Radios and communication on set
- Set etiquette
- Health and safety essentials - what to wear and what to expect
- Your future career – what to think about and top tips for success

ScreenSkills has developed five free e-learning modules called Getting into the screen industries to support people who want to get their first job in screen. You may want to take these modules before you apply.
