About
Dudi Berkowitz Chicago is an experienced artist from America whose paintings have been featured in exhibitions internationally. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Chicago. With his heart connected to the old masters of painting, he composes works that primarily explore the theme of transience. The artist's encounters with landscape and nature influence his art, which is processed and transformed, then reproduced as abstract forms of reality.
Growing up with a father who was an artist, Dudi began creating from a young age inspired by his observations and curiosity. Working across mediums, he creates powerfully charged portraits and semi-abstract works that evoke raw emotion through rough textures. His compositions are emotional spaces built by layers of color – some transparent, others opaque – all forming the substance of the piece.
Captivated by art ever since he was a child, Dudi Berkowitz Chicago has now enjoyed over two decades of life as a professional painter. His work has appeared in solo and group exhibitions across the country for more than a decade. Using acrylic colors and ink, Berkowitz creates modern, geometric artworks in vivid rainbow pallets as well as black and white. His works are incredibly detailed and multifaceted varying between abstract forms and concrete subject matter.
With faces and landscapes as his central theme, he composes figurative portraits marked by interesting combinations of form and colour. Primarily driven by interests in existentialism, absurdism and the major contrasts that exist within the human experience, he composes sensitive figurative pieces with interesting balances of monochrome structures next to colorful details. From expressive charcoal drawings to vivid and quirky paintings, he is undoubtedly an artist with incredible range.
