About
I am a film/TV writer/director and a playwright, a member of the WGA, the Actors Studio (Playwright/Directors Unit - NY), Cinesisters, BAFTA Crew 2021, and an associate member of U.K. Directors.
I grew up in the U.K. and began putting words to images in my tweens, then attended art school at Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, NY), where I studied illustration and graphic design. Whilst still in school, I began photo editing for top photographers and artists such as David LaChapelle, Hans Neleman, Steven Klein, Jeff Koons, to name a few. My humble beginnings and life experience has greatly influenced my current writing and directing work.
Film/TV:
My very first attempt at writing a TV pilot was the series “Peace x Piece,” which landed an option at the Showtime Network in the US, where it was personally developed and championed by Gary Levine.
My feature film directorial debut, “Mercy,” was selected into Toronto Film Festival’s IFF program. It also participated at Film London’s PFM and at the MIA Co-Production Market in Rome. The film is to star Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham, Hiam Abbass, Emun Elliott and Sarah Snook.
My next feature film Five Storey’s Underground, which is loosely based on my award-winning short film Parallel Passage, was selected into the 2020 Film London’s PFM.
I am currently also in development on my TV series “Alex in Wonderland.” The series was one of 16 selected into MIA Market’s Drama Pitch Series, where it garnered interest from top production companies.
My short film Spade starring Jorge Garcia (Lost, Hawaii 5-0) premiered at the Katra Film Series, won the Katra award, and will soon be broadcast on Shorts TV.
My previous short film Parallel Passage, was nominated Best Short at the Deauville Festival of American Cinema by a jury presided by Roman Polanski. It went on to travel major international film festivals including Hamptons, Newport Beach, Sao Paulo and premiered on the Independent Film Channel (IFC) where I was a featured director.
My animated script, “Shoe In” was a finalist at the Fantastic Planet festival in Australia and my screenplay, “Before You Say Goodbye,” was selected into the FIND Producers Lab.
Most recently I was nominated by B3 Media to participate in the Rotterdam Producers Lab with my film EVIN.
Playwriting:
My passion for theatre lead me to write plays and direct for the stage. In 2013 I was selected into LAByrinth Theatre’s Intensive Ensemble mentored by Stephen Adly Guirgis.
Amongst many plays I have written, my musical one woman show “Piaf” which I also directed, premiered in Los Angeles at the Marilyn Monroe Theatre to a sold-out audience, has since traveled to New York, Rome, Hong Kong, and twice presented at the Grammy Museum starring Maria Elena Infantino.
My play “Leviticus” was invited to be workshopped at Guild Hall (East Hampton, NY). A staged reading followed at the Actors Studio (NY), and another took place at the Ensemble Studio Theatre (NY) to a sold-out audience. “Leviticus” was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival after sold out performances Off Broadway at 59E59 (NY).
Most recently, a reading of my play “Mercy” opened at the Clapham Fringe (London) to sold out performances and garnered magnificent reviews. Next, “Mercy” will premiere at London’s Park Theatre in 2022.
In addition to having a certificate in TV Writing from NFTS + All3media, I was one of 12 selected to participate in Serial Eyes, a highly competitive post-graduate training program for European Showrunners.
I am interested in all forms of media including VR. I’m excited to see momentum growing in the world of entertainment, where diversified creative movements continue to abound.
