Skills Fund contributors win at Golden Globe awards

There were big wins for Skills Fund contributors at this year’s Golden Globe awards. The ceremony, held in Los Angeles, gathers leading talents from across the world of film and television to celebrate the best of screen production from the past year.

Film Skills Fund contributor, Hamnet, was a winner in two of the film categories on the night. The film, centred on how a great loss inspired Shakespeare’s greatest work, beat off stiff competition to pick up the award for Best Film - drama. Lead actress Jessie Buckley, who plays Shakespeare’s wife Agnes, was awarded the Best Actress - drama award, adding to her recent success at the Critics Choice awards.

The ceremony also awarded groundbreaking television drama, Adolescence, a contributor to the ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund. The headline-grabbing Warp Film production was awarded across the acting categories, with stars Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty and Owen Cooper each picking up Globes, while the show received the prize for Best Limited Series.

In a busy period for awards, Hamnet also featured heavily among the BAFTA longlist announced last week. It was joined by fellow Fund contributors Bugonia, The Choral, H is for Hawk, Mr Burton, Pillion, My Father’s Shadow, Urchin, Grow and The Roses.

We congratulate each the productions and thank them for their contribution.
