Contributors to ScreenSkills Skills Funds will compete for both BAFTA and Academy Awards after receiving nominations across a range of categories.

Two titles that paid into the Film Skills Fund were recognised with Oscar nominations as Hamnet and Bugonia picked up 12 nods between them. Both productions received nominations for the best film, best director and best leading actress categories with Hamnet receiving further nominations for production design, adapted screenplay, music, costume and casting.

They were joined by Frankenstein, a contributor to the HETV Skills Fund, in the race for best film, while Jacob Elordi’s performance earned him a best supporting actor nomination.

The BAFTAs, taking place before the Oscars, on 22 February, will see Fund contributors compete across a total of 32 categories. Hamnet leads the way with 11 nominations, Bugonia received five, and Frankenstein picked up nods in eight categories.

Fellow Film Skills Fund contributor Pillion earned three nominations while H is for Hawk, Mr Burton, My Father’s Shadow and A Want in Her also received a nomination.

There was joy too for the stop motion animation, Two Black Boys in Paradise, as the Animation Skills Fund contributor picked up a nomination for Best British Short Animation.

In addition to paying in to the Funds, nominated productions supported the development of the UKs workforce by providing placements to candidates taking part in Fund-developed training programmes.

We congratulate each production for their nomination and thanks them for their contribution.
