British Animation Award nominations for Skills Fund contributors

Six productions that contributed to the Animation Skills Fund have received nominations for this year’s British Animation Awards.

The biannual awards, now in their 26th year, celebrate the best in British animation from the past two years and rewarded contributors to the Animation Skills Fund with a total of eight nominations across six categories.

The popular Circle Square series leads the nominations with nods across three categories, including Best Design, the Writers Award and Best Pre-School animation, where it faces competition from Channel 5’s Milkshake! Show, Milo, and Pip and Posy.

The Brilliant World of Tom Gates, adapted from the Liz Pichon books, is nominated for the Best Children’s Series Award, Love Monster is recognized in the Best Original Music category and there was a Best Use of Sound nomination for Zog and the Flying Doctors.

The ceremony will take place on 10 March at London’s BFI Southbank with live satellite events taking place in Stirling, Salford, Cardiff and Bristol.

The nominated animations are:

Circle Square – Best Children’s Pre-School, Writers Award, Best Design
The Brilliant World of Tom Gates – Best Children’s Series
Milo – Best Children’s Pre-School
Pip and Posy – Best Children’s Pre-School
Love Monster – Best Original Music
Zog and the Flying Doctors – Best Use of Sound
