BAFTA wins for Skills Fund contributors at successful night for British film

ScreenSkills Skills Fund contributors were among the winners at this year’s BAFTAs. On a successful night for British film, four productions that contributed to the Film and High-end TV Skills Funds picked up seven awards between them.

Hamnet beat off stiff competition to win the Best British Film award, with Jessie Buckley also collecting the Best Leading Actress prize for her performance in the film as Shakespeare’s wife, Agnes.

Fellow Film Skills Fund contributor, My Father’s Shadow, was given the BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer, awarding the writing and directing brother duo, Akinola Davies and Wale Davies.

There was also an award for contributing short film, Two Black Boys in Paradise, which received the BAFTA for British Short Animation.

Frankenstein, a contributor to the HETV Skills Fund, was another of the night’s big winners. Guillermo del Tor’s adaptation of the Mary Shelley gothic novel was awarded three BAFTAs in total, collecting prizes for costume design, production design and make-up and hair.

We congratulate all the winning and nominated productions and thank them for their contributions to the Funds.
