They also deliver talent development programmes for those typically underrepresented in the screen sector, for example, The Residency, for Global Majority action and thriller writers (which is supported by the BFI Challenge Fund).
Compound Productions is a visionary film and television production company, co-founded by producers Tolu Stedford and Lily Usher. Born out of a desire to do things differently, Compound Productions identifies unique stories and works with the best talent to ensure those stories come to life in the most authentic and creative way possible. They have numerous projects at various stages of production across scripted and non-scripted. Their award-winning documentary, The Medallion, explores a mother’s inconceivable plight; captured in middle school by the Derg communist military regime and raised in a prison camp during the Ethiopian Red Terror. The documentary has screened at over 40 film festivals around the world, was shortlisted for an IDA Award and Cinema Eye Honours (2024) and won Best Documentary at San Francisco International Film Festival (2024), which qualified the film for the 97th Academy Awards. The documentary has been acquired by The New Yorker and is distributed by SUDU Connexion for France and Germany and TAPE Collective for the UK.
