For applicants
Recruitment happens once per year and usually begins in the summer.
To apply for Leaders of Tomorrow you must be nominated by a senior HETV professional, be a mid-level freelancer looking to step up to a senior role in the future, and have at least two high-end TV credits. It would be best to discuss your application with your nominator to decide if this programme is right for you. Also visit our testimonials page to see what current Leaders of Tomorrow have to say.
A nominator must be someone working at a senior level in high-end TV.
To apply, you will need the name, job title, email address and phone number for your nominator. You must discuss your application with your nominator before applying, and they must have consented to your sharing their name, job title and contact details with ScreenSkills.
Leaders of Tomorrow is a programme for mid-level freelancers only.
Leaders of Tomorrow does not currently support directors, producers or writers.
Please contact leadersoftomorrow@screenskills.com.
For nominators
This inclusive programme is aimed at mid-level high-end TV freelancers who have the potential to become a HOD or a senior decision-maker in the future. As a nominator you have recognised a talented individual who, with the support of the Leaders of Tomorrow programme, has the potential to break the glass ceiling into a more senior role.
Provide your applicant with your name, job title, email address and phone number and they will include this on their application form.
Not for the application - you do not need to supply anything to ScreenSkills at this stage. If your nominee is successful in securing a place on the programme, we will be in touch for a quote about why you nominated the individual for their profiles and launch event.
For productions
A list of current Leaders of Tomorrow can be found here.
Productions that pay into the High-End TV Skills Fund, formerly known as the levy, are eligibly to apply for LOT funding. The fund applies to TV production costing £1 million or more per broadcast hour to produce. More information on HETV Skills Fund eligibility can be found here.
Funding is included in the 60% you can access from the production’s HETV skills fund contribution and is discussed on a case-by-case basis with the HETV team.
The money can be used to fund:
- Salaries
- Travel and accommodation expenses
- Mentoring
- Shadowing
