It was created to meet industry demand for more effective career pathways to encourage diversity in leadership roles.
Participants have access and resources tailored to what they need to progress to head of department or to a decision-making role in the future. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to undertake placements on HETV productions.
The programme gives participants access to support options such as:
- A mentor
- Funded placements on HETV productions
- PR exposure, industry networking opportunities and introductions
- Funding that can be used towards grade and skills-specific training, relevant equipment or software
- A range of virtual and in-person training sessions aimed at mid-level crew aiming to move into leadership roles in the future
- Access to additional services, include accessibility and mental health support
About HETV production placements
Productions that contribute to ScreenSkills’ High-end TV Skills Fund can apply for funding to subsidise the cost of employing, supporting, and training a Leader of Tomorrow in a relevant role, as they progress their careers over the three years of the programme. This is included in the 60% that can be accessed from the production’s HETV skills fund contribution.
The money can be used to fund:
- Salaries
- Travel and accommodation expenses
- Mentoring
- Shadowing
Who can apply?
This programme is intended for freelancers who:
- Are currently in a mid-level role with at least two high-end TV credits.
- Have a senior industry professional who has agreed to be listed on their application as a nominator
- Are committed to advancing into leadership positions in the future
- Live and work in the UK
Please note: This is not a programme for entry-level roles.
The programme is open to mid-level freelancers who live in the UK and work across various departments in high-end TV scripted and high-end TV unscripted.
