  2. 1st AC and Clapper Loader

    boomsatsuma · Mar 2024 - Apr 2024

1st AC on the GRAD II production of ‘HALLOWED EARTH’ directed by Allie Quinn and DOP by Cole Oakley. This short was made as apart of our final year film of university, making sure that we shot this short as professional as possible and using industry standard kit. For this production we travelled up to a small village 20 miles outside of Swindon to shoot over a course of a week and one day in Bristol. I was able to work very close to the camera to help rig and de rig, slate, set up camera and lighting. This film stars Nicolaus Lumley (known for his roles in “Paddington 2” and Channel 4’s “Screwed”) and was shot using the Red Helium Camera

  3. 1st AC

    Bristol Collaborative Arts · May 2024 - May 2024

1st AC with University of Bristol's partnered with Bristol collaborative arts for the short film production of ‘Playing House’. This was shot over two days on location inside of a student house and I was able to assist the DOP directly with camera rigging setups, and lighting. This film was later screened at a local screening in Bristol for Bristol Collaborative arts.

  4. 2nd AC / Clapper Loader

Bristol Film School with boomsatsuma · Apr 2024 - Apr 2024

2nd AC (Daily) for the GRAD II production of ‘Serendipity’ a final university short film directed by Evie Teller and Jade Birchall, and DOP work by Lucy Wallis. I was able to communicate effectively with both the DOP and the 1st AC to focus, frame and set up each shot. For the day I was on set we were shooting in the Galleries in Bedminster in a small book shot that was standing in for a library.

  5. Art assistant / 1st AC

Bristol Film School with boomsatsuma · Apr 2024 - Apr 2024

Art assistant and 1st AC on the GRAD II production of ‘Sweet escape’ another university final film directed by Katie Boyes and DOP work by Sam Offer. I was able to help dress the set the day before filming inside the studio making sure that the set was dressed as best as possible. I also provided my assistance to mark each shot, swing lenses, and to set up shoulder rigs and dolly tracks.

  6. Sound operator / Foley Sound recordist

Dan and Lucy films · May 2024 - Jun 2024

Worked the short film’ St Chris’ directed by Dan Wilson Hollies and shot by DOP and VMI technician Lucy Wallis as a sound recordist and a camera assistant helping slate each shot, working around the camera and placing markers down for the main cast on set. For this production I was not only able to understand more about capturing audible sound on set for the artists but also creating a landscape of sounds for foley to be overlaid on the film. This allowed me to be able to explore my surrounding area to find a wide range of sounds in which I believe would be essential to help amplify the film and to allow for editorial choice in post production.

  7. Locations Scout / Camera Assist / CO-Producer

    Kieran Films · May 2024 - Jun 2024

I was asked to be able to help on an indie production called ‘FRESH MEAT’’ as a Camera assistant and location scout. This film was initially pitched to be a part of our GRAD 2 / final films at university however did not end up getting selected but was pushed by the lecturers to be made as it was a strong and important story to be told. I was able to discover a wide range of locations that fitted the brief of the director's vision and as a team the HODs all came together to scout as many locations as possible. As a location scout I was able to make contact with a lot of businesses and communities to arrange dates and time and inform them of our plans for set dressing and what our film is about. When moving into production I was asked to step up and help with the call sheets and shooting schedule of each day. I was fortunate to be working with one of my favourite DOPs (Anna Richards) who I was able to work closely with while shooting on the SONY FX6 which we also did test shoots for. This production was a mixture of filming inside of a studio (Boomsatsuma studios) and shooting out on location in and around Bristol and Bath.

    boomsatsuma · Dec 2023 - Jan 2024

As a part of a university module, I was able to work as a 1st AC for the short ‘Quarter life crisis’. This job allowed me to work close to camera and DOP Anna Richards to assist with Camera build, camera setup, placing markers for both camera and actors, working on follow focus and slating for each shot. This short film was short with a low budget however was made with great pessionalism due to the kit we were able to shoot on (Red Heluim 8k camera along with mautiple Apature lights) but also because of the seriousness people took their job roles on set to make sure that this film was made safely. This short film was short in and around the Bristol area all on location in Bedminster for shooting in a couple of small business ,and fishponds area for the bedroom scenes. Test shooting for practising the table scene was shot in boomsatsuma studios in Brislington.

    Bristol Film School · May 2023 - Jun 2023

  14. DIY SOS visit

    BBC · May 2023 - May 2023

As a part of a small university trip made possible by our lead lecture of the degree and head of Bristol Film School with boomsatsuma, we are able to attend the filming of a DIY SOS show in the making. This took place up Southmead Bristol, for a big build where the team renovated an adventure playground in Southmead. This huge project involved creating a recording studio and a forest school alongside the playground. We were able to meet with the production team to see how the show runs, along with local communities that come together to support the team, as well as chatting with the crew and presents of the show (Nick Knowles and Billy Bryne). This allowed us at university students to understand more about the world of unscripted TV making to see how a show is made and what the episode are all about when making them.

On this shoot I provide a lot of communication and logistic skills as well as providing first hand experience to younger individual student getting work experience on set to get started in the film industry. This shoot was extremely technical based. Despite being in a studio this one hosted a 13m wide by 3.5m LED screen made up of 2.8mm LED panels which was able to provide a video display of a moving shot though the streets of Leeds which was placed behind a black London cab. I did lean a lot of new skills and made as well as maintained a lot of good connections though different people working in departments.

  19. Runner / marshal

    Happy Hour productions · Dec 2022 - Dec 2022

I was asked to help assist a 1 day TV commercial shoot for 'My Diesel Claim' as a runner and marshal along side a couple other colleges from university. On this very cold morning I travelled to the shoot up in Chatfield at the site of a pup station which was closed for the shoot fore the whole day. On this production shoot I was able to provide assistance as a runner to give out snacks, teas and coffees however we were very fortunate to be given access to the pub over the road as our base and they were very kind to be able to provide breakfast and dinner for the whole cast and crew. Upstairs of this pub were a couple of rooms that were also able to double as hair makeup and costumes for the actors. As the role of a marshal, it was our responsibility to talk to the members of the public to help explain that that the pump station was closed for the day and keep people out of shot when filming. We did also have a security guard on location with us to help with any problems we might of encountered with any members of the public as well as a paramedic to assist with any accident or injuries faced and for processionary measures due to the high level of risk of environment we were filming at. I was also given instructions to be able to assist with the set on location for opening and closing of the door of the pump station and to look after the actors to help guide and cue them for the scene. This shoot did draw late into the night where the INT scenes where filmed with help of the large lights we had set up around the building. When filming warped all the crew worked as quickly as possible to get all the set dressing and props there were fitted into the pump station down as well all the costumes and hair and make up equipment out before last man out. Overall this was a very successful shoot and was very nice to be able to be out on location despite the cold weather. I was very surprised to see the commercial hit the screen only after 3 months since filming. Advert : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZcFZoB8HrI (This shoot was nothing that was obtained and given access too via university it was purely given to me as well as a couple of other students in my course as we are now well known by Happy Hour Productions.)
