About
Hello! I’m Sam - a filmmaker who specialises in editing, visual effects and camera-operating, dedicated to telling stories through both narrative and visual craft. I have edited multiple short films and projects throughout my early career, working fluently across Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve to bring complex edits and visual ideas to life. Alongside that, I am an avid user of Blender and have spent the last 3 years learning the art of 3D visual effects (as well as the never-ending cluster of challenges that come alongside it)! Likewise, when I’m not behind a desk, sitting in post-production, I like being on set working alongside others. I’ve always loved the tangible side of filmmaking and picking up a camera has always been my way of bringing that love to life. I am very accustomed to using cameras such as the ARRI Alexas, the Sony FX range, as well as REDs.I recently graduated with First Class Honours in Film and Television Production (BSc) from the University of York, where I specialised in 3D VFX — culminating in a final dissertation project that blended CGI with live-action cinematography. Alongside my own filmmaking, I also work as a behind-the-scenes photographer for other directors’ sets, capturing and editing high-quality stills that help promote and celebrate their craft of filmmaking.Even though I’m still early in my filmmaking career, I make it a priority to learn something new with every project I take on. I really value the chance to connect with other professionals in the industry, and I never take those opportunities for granted. Whether it’s trying out a new approach or meeting someone new, I’m always looking for new ways to grow my career.
