I have worked in the television/film industry for 14 years, 10 years making prop weapons and as a standby in the Armoury Dept. And 4 years in the Props and Art Dept. as a Standby Prop and Standby Art Director. During the prep stages of productions, I have been responsible for designing and creating prop weapons for principle cast and background artists. I have also made shields, scabbards, sword belts and functioning siege equipment, making the mechanisms and dressing for the pieces. As a standby I have broken down scripts, taken part in reccies, prepped trucks for shoot, regularly ran my own unit on a number of productions, instructed trainees and juniors on set and in the workshop and worked closely with the AD, props, SFX and costume Depts. I am a highly skilled blacksmith and metal worker with 18 years experience. I am an accomplished welder and fabricator, as well as a designer often making one off pieces of work to commission. While metalwork is my specialty, I also work with leather, wood and have mould making experience. I have completed a course in Fusion 360 with SERC. This 3D drawing and design software has given me the skills to prepare designs and components for machining, laser cutting and 3D printing. I am currently doing online courses on Sketchup to improve my skills.I am a highly motivated hard-working individual. I work well as a part of a team but can also work of my own initiative. I work well under pressure and can handle tight deadlines.I have my own fully equipped metalworking workshop, that i use for prop making when on jobs and as a supplier to the TV and Film industry.
