Moving up to producer/director (PD) is a huge step. The role requires editorial understanding, technical skills in directing, shooting and sound, leadership skills, an understanding of what works in the edit, responsibility for cast and crew safety, and an ability to stay calm under pressure.

This year, the Unscripted TV Skills Fund is launching a brand-new training programme to support those making this step.

It’s open for applications here but ahead of applying the training provider, Jo Woolf Media Training, is running two introductory webinars to offer more context on the programme and answer any questions you may have to determine whether it’s the right choice for you.

Who it's for

The programme itself is aimed at APs and DV directors in unscripted TV who want to step up to PD level, and for junior PDs or returners who can make a clear case as to how this training will benefit them.

These webinars are for anyone unsure of whether this is the training for them, or those seeking more information before applying.

There are 100 spaces per webinar, booked on a first come, first served basis.

How to apply

To secure a place on one of the introductory webinars, click “Get ticket” at the top of the page. You must log in or register before you can secure your place.

To apply for the programme itself, head to this page.
