In this latest ScreenSkills Safe Return to Set Seminar we will hear from four experts who will outline the challenges they have experienced so far when implementing Covid-19 health and safety practices into the workplace and how they see new job titles and training emerging in the future.

This ScreenSkills Safe Return to Set Seminar is part of a series designed to complement the Working Safely During Covid-19 guidance produced by a working party for film and high-end television convened by the British Film Commission (BFC) as part of the BFI’s Screen Sector Task Force. The session is supported by ScreenSkills using National Lottery funds awarded by the BFI as part of the Future Film Skills programme.

Speakers

Jonathon Bradbury is Head of Safety at First Option. A graduate member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), he has more that 10 years experience in safety & risk management. 
Jonathon was actively involved in setting up and implementing Covid-19 controls on one of the first productions (with Netflix Production) to restart in the UK during the pandemic and has collaborated with other senior First Option consultants to produce the ‘Yellow Book’. He is a keen observer of behaviours and differing perceptions of risk from cast and crew onsite. 

After graduating in Music and Film at Oxford Brookes, Hannah Clark worked as an archivist at the British Library, before undertaking training, to progressed become their risk and safety officer. Following this, she worked as H&S Manager at The Fair, overseeing safety for events and dance/techno music festivals, before joining First Option three years ago. 

Since combining safety with her passion for film, Hannah has worked as in house advisor for Freemantle, Viacom and Channel 4, and has built a list of credits on exciting projects such as Killing Eve, Des, The Witcher, I May Destroy You, 355, Hanna, Sink or Swim (Standup to Cancer), Last Night in Soho, Small Axe, Britain's Got Talent, X-Factor and Alex Rider

Andy Harriss is an H&S Advisor and also the MD of MSS Safety based at Pinewood and BBC Elstree studios providing a team of over 100 fire, safety and medical professionals globally. Following his time in the military, Andy spent 10 years in emergency services and was also part of a nuclear safety team. Since 2006 he’s supported many productions across the world including over 130 episodes of Top Gear plus feature films including Mission Impossible, Star Wars and the latest Bond Movie. He is also a CQC registered manager for Covid-19 testing and ambulance provision, recently seeing his team commit to 3 months frontline NHS support. In recent months he has been on location in various Covid Supervisor and H&S roles understanding the industries problems first hand. 

Ismena Deacon joined Pinewood Group in 2017 as Head of Business Compliance and currently leads the Pinewood’s Covid-19 taskforce, overseeing the implementation of crucial new procedures as well as managing the Group’s health and safety, sustainability and statutory compliance. After receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bristol University, she worked within the construction and utility industries for many years. This included the redevelopment of the Royal Opera House from design to completion. As a Chartered Engineer, her experience and qualifications have seen her support hundreds of productions during her time at Pinewood.
